Quarterback Jacob Zeno Named Manning Award Star of the Week

BIRMINGHAM – Quarterback Jacob Zeno has been named one of eight quarterbacks honored with the Manning Star of the Week, which is sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
College football fans can follow the Manning Award on social media (@ManningAward) to vote for what they think was the best performance from this past weekend. When voting closes on Thursday at 9 a.m. (Central), the top vote-getter will be announced as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week.
Along with Zeno, the other seven Manning Stars of the Week are Carson Beck (Georgia), Zeon Chriss (Louisiana), Jayden Daniels (LSU), Dillon Gabriel (Oklahoma), Frank Harris (UTSA), Drake Maye (North Carolina) and Zion Webb (Jacksonville State).
As he's been all season long, Zeno was on target against South Florida in leading UAB to a 56-35 victory. He completed 19-of-25 for 353 yards and a career-best four touchdowns. It was his second 300-yard passing game of the season and he led UAB to a season-best 608 yards of total offense, which was just the sixth time in school history UAB has had 600+ yard of offense in a game.
Zeno continues to rank top five nationally in completions per game (3rd – 29.3) and completion percentage (75.5%). Through six games, Zeno has completed 176-of-233 for 1,795 yards, 12 touchdowns and five interceptions. He is currently on pace to shatter the single season school records for passing yards, total completions and completion percentage.
Zeno was also named to the AAC Honor Roll earlier today.
Zeno heads home to San Antonio this weekend to lead the Blazers into an AAC clash at UTSA. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT on ESPNU from the Alamodome.
