UAB Bowling Place Second at Sonic Boom Invite

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Bowling team finished second at the Sonic Boom Invite in Jackson, Miss. this past weekend. The Blazers defeated ranked Louisiana Tech Sunday morning to secure a spot in the championship bracket against the Bulldogs.
On Friday, UAB finished the day 3-1 after defeating Jackson State (931-902) in match one, Grambling State (887-684) in match two and Alabama State (916-835) in match three. To end day one, the Blazers fell shy to Louisiana Tech (923-997).
After a quick turnaround, the Blazers and Bulldogs met again for match one on Saturday where UAB fell short 930-997. The Green and Gold played against a ghost team for match two before playing Alabama State in match three where they loss 863-898.
UAB secured back-to-back wins in matches four and five after defeating Grambling State (1000-679) and Jackson State (936-897).
CHAMPIONSHIP SUNDAY BREAKDOWN
Match One vs. Louisiana Tech: Won 4-3 in bracket play to earn a bye into the championship match.
Championship Match vs. Louisiana Tech: Lost 1.5-4.5 to finish second overall
BOWLER HIGHLIGHTS
Four Blazers finished in the Top 25 individual standings – Shauna Rodgers (6th), Madelynn Oliva (7th), Keagan Trexler (12th) and Jamie Krasnigor (15th). Rodgers and Oliva both collected three 200+ games over the weekend.
