BIRMINGHAM – Working with one of the top offenses in the nation the past two years at Ohio State, Reilly Jeffers was hired as the tight ends coach at UAB in December of 2022 and enters his first season with the Blazers.
"I have known Reilly Jeffers for quite a while," Head Coach Trent Dilfer said. "He is a young rising star in the business. He is a great X-O mind and a great technician. He understands every position on offense. He has experience with tight ends, offensive line, receiver play, running back play and quarterback play. He is a well-rounded coach that is another elite recruiter."
Jeffers comes to UAB after spending the last two seasons (2021-22) at Ohio State as an offensive assistant. During his time in Columbus, the Buckeyes compiled an overall record of 22-4, made an appearance in 2022 College Football Playoff and won the 2021 Rose Bowl.
While Jeffers was at Ohio State, the Buckeyes had the nation's top offense in 2021 as they led the country in total offense (561.5) and scoring offense (45.7). This past season, Ohio State finished 9th nationally in total offense (490.7) and second in scoring offense (44.2).
Prior to Ohio State, Jeffers spent the 2020 season as the tight ends coach at Lipscomb Academy working alongside Dilfer. He was previously at Florida Atlantic where he worked with the offensive line and was enrolled in the FAU MBA Sport Management program.
Jeffers is the son of Jeff and Leslie Jeffers. His father served as the radio sideline reporter for Notre Dame football broadcasts.
A native of South Bend, Ind., Jeffers played collegiately at Kansas from 2012-15 as a long snapper.
