Meet The Staff: Defensive Line Coach Miguel Patrick

BIRMINGHAM – Coming off a season in which he helped Ohio State reach the College Football Playoff, Miguel Patrick was hired as UAB's defensive line coach in December of 2022 and enters his first year with the Blazers.
"Miguel Patrick is a guy who has experience as a head coach at the high school level and is another elite recruiter. Being at Ohio State, he is a Larry Johnson disciple as a defensive line coach. From a technique standpoint – formatting the front seven, understanding the total defense and how the front seven comes into play, makes him one of the better front seven coaches in the country."
Patrick joins UAB after spending the 2022 season at Ohio State as a defensive quality control coach. Along with reaching the CFP, Ohio State finished with a top 15 national ranking in total defense.
A respected coach in the high school ranks in Georgia, Patrick led Ellenwood Cedar Grove to a state championship in his first season as a head coach in 2019. He also helped Cedar Grove win state 3-A championships in 2016 and 2018 as the defensive coordinator.
After compiling a 17-7 record at Cedar Grove in two seasons, Patrick was named the head coach at Cordele (Ga.) Crisp County in 2021. He led the Cougars to a 9-4 record, a region championship and a trip to the state quarterfinals.
Patrick played linebacker at Alabama State and graduated in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. He went on to earn his master's from Kennesaw State in educational leadership in 2018.
Patrick has three children, Zari Ingram, Khali Patrick and Mason Patrick.
