Track and Field Concludes Weekend at Vulcan Invite

BIRMINGHAM – UAB Track and Field closed their home meet series with the Vulcan Invite on Saturday at the Birmingham Crossplex. The event pool was lighter than the Friday meet at the Blazer Invite for the Green and Gold, but the team still tallied impressive individual performances.
The Blazers were field dominant in competition, with UAB represented in eight field events for the Vulcan Invite. Of the eight events, five had top-ten finishes. Shauntia Landrum closed out with two second-place finishes in the long and triple jump. Nia Hill also finished with a second-place finish in the high jump.
In throws, Zoria Miller finished with a PR in the weight throw after setting a PR in her prior throw. Birthe Francke-Petersen finished fifth in the shot put.
In the running events, freshman Taylor Washington finished the 60m hurdle finals with a second-place finish and PR time of 8.92.
UP NEXT
The Blazers return to action next week at the Birmingham Crossplex in the Samford Multi-Invite. The meet takes place on Thursday and Friday, January 19th and 20th.
