McBride and Wilder Earn Conference USA Players of the Week

BIRMINGHAM – For their respective career days against Georgia Southern, both DeWayne McBride and Noah Wilder have earned Conference USA Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors.
McBride had a career high 223 rushing yards and matched career highs in carries (28) and touchdowns (4) in UAB's 35-21 victory. It was his second career 200-yard performance and the 10th time he has rushed for at least 100 yards.
In just two games this season, McBride has rushed for 400 yards and five touchdowns while averaging 8.3 yards per carry. In 21 career games, he has 2,210 yards and 22 touchdowns, and is the nation's leader in career yards per career average at 7.4.
Wilder had a career high 18 tackles to lead a defensive performance that shut down the nation's second-ranked offense. Wilder and the Blazers held Georgia Southern to 160 yards under their season average while also recording three interceptions and 11 pass breakups as a unit.
Wilder now has 34 tackles this season and his average of 11.3 tackles per game is tops in Conference USA. His career day also moved Wilder into 10th place for career tackles at UAB and he now has 262 for his career.
The Blazers are 2-1 as they enter their bye week and return to action on Oct. 1 against Rice for their Conference USA opener. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
