UAB Athletics Announces Hall of Fame Class of 2022

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Department of Athletics has announced the Hall of Fame Class of 2022 who will be enshrined on Oct. 7 at The Club.
The UAB Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2022 is comprised of five members:
FRAN BRAASCH:
Fran Braasch was the first-ever UAB women's basketball head coach, starting with the program's inception in 1978. She led the then-Lady Blazers for three seasons, compiling 58 victories and a winning percentage of .637, still the winningest coach in program history. In her tenure, she recruited and coached UAB's all-time leading scorer Wanda Hightower.
DERRICK INGRAM:
Derrick Ingram was on UAB's first NCAA sanctioned football team and still holds UAB school records for career receptions (207), single season receptions (83), career receiving yards (3,379), single season receiving yards (1,457) and career touchdown receptions (28). Ingram was named All-Associate Press First Team in 1994.
ALAN KAUFMAN:
Alan Kaufman coached the UAB men's golf team for 15 years and led the Blazers to eight NCAA Tournament appearances and captured the program's lone Conference USA Championship in 2008. He recruited some of the all-time UAB greats such as Graeme McDowell, Zach Sucher and Paul Dunne.
RYAN KEEDY:
One of the most prolific hitters in school history, Keedy played three years for the Blazers from 2006-08 and still holds the school record for batting average (.382) and on base percentage (.491). In his first year as a Blazer in 2006, he set the single season record with 29 doubles. In 2008, Keedy put together one of the best single season performances in program history and his marks still to this day ranks top 10 for hits (1st - 99), batting average (3rd - .423), RBI (5th - 69) and runs (6th – 61). He was a Third Team All-American in 2008 by Collegiate Baseball/Louisville Slugger and by the NCWBA. He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 18th round of the 2008 MLB Draft.
ANDY KENNEDY:
In just three seasons, Andy Kennedy made his mark at UAB as one of the most prolific scorers in program history. Kennedy is currently second on the Blazers' all-time scoring list with 1,787 points and he holds the record for three-point field goal percentage (.437), three-pointers made (318) and free throw percentage (.872). During the 1989-90 season, Kennedy led the Blazers to a Sun Belt regular season title and an NCAA Tournament berth while scoring a team-best 16.9 points per game and setting a program record with a .902 free throw percentage.
The 2022 Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Oct. 7 at The Club. Individual tickets are $50 and a table of eight is $400. Fans can purchase tickets to the event by clicking here.
The 2022 UAB Athletics Hall of Fame inductees will also be recognized during the UAB Football Homecoming game versus Middle Tennessee on Oct. 8 at Protective Stadium.
