BIRMINGHAM – For the 14th time in program history, the UAB men's golf team has been selected to the NCAA Tournament and will participate in the Stockton Regional set for May 16-18 at The Reserve at Spanos Park.
The Blazers received the No. 9 seed in the Stockton Regional and enter postseason play as the 57th-ranked team in the nation.
Not only will the Blazers be making back-to-back trips to NCAA Regionals, but UAB advanced to NCAA Nationals in 2021 and finished 24th overall.
Under the direction of first year head coach Matt Whall, the Blazers are currently 109-41-5 and return to the postseason with a ton of experience, led by Nick Robillard, Khavish Varadan, Alfie Fox and Ethan Hagood.
"The ride continues and we're heading out West," said head coach Matt Whall. "I'm really proud of these guys for battling through and putting us in with an opportunity to qualify and play in a National Championship. Regionals are always a fun but tough week and we are going to have to bring our best to make it through but we will give it everything and see what happens."
The University of Pacific will serve as host of the Stockton Regional. Arizona State earned the No. 1 seed in the regional, followed by No. 2 Washington, No. 3 Stanford, No. 4 LSU and No. 5 Oregon.
The remaining teams in UAB's regional are No. 6 Nevada, No. 7 Liberty, No. 8 BYU, No. 10 Houston, No. 11 UC Davis, No. 12 Denver, No. 13 Abilene Christian and No. 14 Weber State.
UAB looks to finish top five as a team at Regionals to advance to NCAA Nationals which will once again be held at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., from May 27-June 1.
