UAB’s Record Setting Season Ends at C-USA Tournament

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The UAB beach volleyball team's record-setting season came to a close on Friday afternoon with a 4-1 loss to No. 13 FIU at John Hunt Park in Huntsville.
The Blazers (17-18) finished the year with a school record 17 team wins and earlier today defeated ULM to mark the first time ever UAB has won multiple games in a conference tournament.
UAB opened the day with a sweep of ULM 5-0 as the Blazers raced out to a 3-0 lead with straight set victories on courts three, four and one. A three set victory on court two followed, while Ella Alexander and Jessica Ennis capped the sweep with a three set victory on court five.
Against FIU, the 13th-ranked Panthers jumped out to a 3-0 lead with wins on courts one, four and three. Alexander and Ennis got UAB on the board with a straight set victory as Alexander concluded the season with a team-best 22 victories.
Arden Copping and Mikayla Law-Heese concluded the duel with a three set loss on court two, but finished the weekend with a team-best 3-1 record.
Despite not making the NCAA Tournament, UAB will serve as the host institution for the sixth-consecutive season next week in Gulf Shores, Ala.
