UAB Concludes Regular Season Schedule Sunday at Jacksonville State

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's tennis team will conclude its regular season schedule Sunday when the Blazers battle in-state foe Jacksonville State at the JSU Tennis Courts. First serve in Jacksonville, Alabama, is set for 1 p.m.
UAB LATELY
UAB (8-14) split a home doubleheader on Friday against Tennessee Tech and West Alabama, dropping match one 6-1 to TTU before notching a 4-3 win over UWA.
The Blazers won four of six singles matches to secure their victory over West Alabama. Michal Lusovsky, who posted his team-best 15th singles victory of the season, defeated West Alabama ace Illari Vesanen 6-4, 6-4 on court one to tie the match at 2-2. Thanos Spyropoulos and Roman Postolka would then earn wins on courts four and two, respectively, to clinch the match for the Blazers.
In match one against Tennessee Tech, Lusovsky posted his 14th win of the season with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Tennessee Tech ace Elias Grubert.
UAB holds an 18-0 all-time record against Jacksonville State, winning all 18 of those matches in Birmingham. Sunday's matchup will be the first meeting between the two teams in Jacksonville.
JACKSONVILLE STATE
Jacksonville State (7-9) is 1-4 in its past five matches, losing three of those four matches in tight 4-3 decisions. The Gamecocks are 46-41 overall in singles matches and 22-18 in doubles matches this season.
Fifth-year Gamecock Jordi Blanchar and senior Thomas Norwood lead Jacksonville State with nine singles victories this season. In doubles, fifth-year duo Aljaz Kapija and Joaquin Vallejo pace the Gamecocks with a 5-4 record.
UP NEXT
UAB will travel to Norfolk, Virginia, to open its time at the Conference USA Championships. The C-USA Championships will begin on Friday, April 22, and run through Sunday, April 24.
