UAB Faces WKU In Second Round of C-USA Championships

FRISCO, Texas – The UAB women's basketball team begins its quest for the Conference USA championship on Wednesday afternoon when they face WKU. Tipoff at The Star is set for 1:30 p.m.
Coverage of the first and second rounds will be available through ESPN+, while the four quarterfinal games will be available on affiliates of Stadium as well as ESPN+. The semifinal games will be shown on Stadium. CBS Sports Network will broadcast the championship game on Saturday, March 12 beginning at 4:30 p.m. (CT).
UAB LATELY
UAB (15-14, 8-10 C-USA) is the No. 5 West seed. They earned the seeding outright.
WKU LATELY
WKU (18-11, 11-7 C-USA) is the No. 4 East seed. They earned the seeding outright.
UAB AND WKU HISTORY
The series dates back to 1981 and has been played 26 times with WKU holding a 19-7 advantage over UAB. The teams met 12 times when they were members of the Sun Belt, with the Blazers only win coming in 1991. In Conference USA play, the Lady Toppers lead 6-3. WKU won the only matchup in the C-USA Championship in 2018.

She's second in the league in blocks per game and total blocks (2.0/58) and is fourth in field goals made (170).

Both Weathersby (Chicago State/Chattanooga) and Caitlynn Daniels (Mississippi Valley State) each have a 28-point game under their belts this year.

Emily Klaczek set a career-high with 26 points in UAB's 86-70 win over WKU on Jan. 27. She scored 16 points in the 2nd quarter, going 5-for-5 from the field, 4-of-4 from 3-point range and a pair of foul shots.

In Daniels career day against MVSU, she drained eight 3-pointers. This is the most in C-USA this season and tied for the 11th most in the NCAA this season.
