UAB Heads to LSU for Tiger Beach Challenge

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB beach volleyball team heads to Baton Rouge this weekend for the Tiger Beach Challenge set for Saturday and Sunday, March 5-6.
The Blazers (0-4) will play five matches this weekend with three on Saturday and two on Sunday. UAB open the tournament with a Conference USA match against Southern Miss, then plays Stephen F. Austin and No. 4 Loyola Marymount on Saturday. Sunday action sees the Blazers square off against Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Texas A&M Kingsville.
UAB will be playing Loyola Marymount and Stephen F. Austin for the first time in program history. The Blazers are 3-1 against Southern Miss and look to avenge last season's loss to the Golden Eagles in the CCSA Tournament. UAB is also 3-0 against Corpus Christi and 0-1 against Kingsville.
UAB opened the season by going 0-4 against some of the top teams in the nation last weekend at Florida State. The Blazers played three teams ranked inside the top 20, falling 5-0 to No. 3 Florida State, No. 6 TCU and No. 13 Florida Atlantic, and also dropped a heartbreaker to North Florida, 3-2.
Following the LSU Tiger Challenge, UAB heads back to Louisiana the following week for the Bayou Beach Bash hosted by Tulane in New Orleans.
