UAB Men’s Golf Places 11th at The Hayt

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's golf team placed 11th at the Hayt on Sunday and Monday at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Verda Beach, Fla.
UAB was led by Alfie Fox and Khavish Varadan who each tied for 23rd overall. Fox (74-77-69 = 220, +4) had UAB's low round of the tournament on the final 18 holes with a three under 69 to vault up 17 spots.
Varadan (74-72-74 = 220, +4) also finished tied for 23rd. Varadan missed the top 20 for just the second time this season as he continues to lead the 40th-ranked Blazers towards the postseason.
Following Fox and Varadan, Nick Robillard (76-79-71 = 226, +10) tied for 52nd, Ethan Hagood (75-76-76 = 227, +11) tied for 58th and Paul Bruce (78-80-76 = 234, +18) tied for 75th.
North Florida (-4) won the tournament by one stroke over Charlotte (-3) and was followed by Florida Gulf Coast (+4), Liberty (+8) and Tennessee (+13).
UAB is back in action in two weeks at Mississippi State's Mossy Oak Collegiate, set for April 11-12 at West Point, Miss.
