BIRMINGHAM – Coming off a fourth place finish at the 42nd annual Schenkel Invitational, sophomore Khavish Varadan has been named the Conference USA Co-Golfer of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Varadan (70-72-67 = 209, -7) was at or under par all the rounds and finished seven under for the tournament. His five under 67 in the final round moved him up seven spots to notch his third top five finish of the year.
This is Varadan's second C-USA Golfer of the Week honor this season as the accolades continue to pile in for the third-year player. Varadan was the C-USA Freshman of the Year in 2020 and was a Second Team All-Conference USA performer last season.
This year, he has finished top 10 in five of the seven tournaments he has played in and has a team-best 70.4 stroke average.
Varadan has led UAB to a top five team finish in seven of their eight tournaments this season as UAB currently ranked 39th nationally with an overall record of 89-19-3. Individually, Varadan is ranked No. 66 nationally.
Varadan shares this week's honors with Charlotte's Ben Woodruff who placed seventh at the Linger Longer.
The Blazers resume action this weekend's March 27-28, at The Hayt in Ponte Berda Beach, Fla.
