UAB Bowling Opens Spring Slate at Railsplitter Classic

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB bowling team looks to defend its title at the Railsplitter Classic this weekend in Harrogate, Tenn., hosted by Lincoln Memorial at Hillcrest Lanes. The three-day event runs Feb. 4 through Feb. 6.
Friday will consist of a one day baker match. On Saturday and Sunday, will be a two day event with five traditional matches (Saturday) and five baker matches (Sunday). The tournament champion will be determined by total pinfall.
In their last competition during the fall slate, the Blazers placed fifth in the ISTAP Hornet Classic in Montgomery, Ala.
Four of bowlers placed in the top 15-individually. Jamie Krasnigor led the way with a seventh-place finish with an average of 187.0 points with two games over the 200-pin mark. Katie Hurley (184.6, 11th), Elise London (184.4, 12th) and Jillian Hulsey (183.2, 14th) all placed in the top-15. Shauna Rodgers finished just outside the top 25 with a 162.8 average.
Competing with the Blazers this weekend is, No. 22 Lincoln Memorial, Mercyhurst, Tusculum and Belmont Abbey.
Following the Railsplitter Classic, the Green and Gold will take a week off and then travel to Norfolk, Va. for MEAC #2.
