Anna Massa Named C-USA Field Athlete of the Week

BIRMINGHAM- After breaking the UAB school record in indoor pole vault this past weekend, Anna Massa has been named the Conference USA Female Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning. On Saturday, February 12 at the Samford Open, Massa set the new school record with a 4.15m jump in the pole vault.
"We're so proud of Anna." Said Coach Kurt Thomas. "We have a great training group, and it really helps her. She's a talented vaulter and put together a really good series of jumps to earn this award. We can't wait to see what she can do the rest of this year."
Massa has been a force in the pole vault during her entire career as a Blazer. She won the Conference USA Outdoor Pole Vault in 2021 and has placed first in the pole vault several times in numerous meets throughout her time at UAB. This is the second time in her career that she has been named the C-USA Field Athlete of the week, and the second week in a row that a blazer has been awarded a weekly Conference honor.
Between February 4 and February 12, an eight-day span, three Blazers set new school records.
