McBride Earns Walter Camp Second Team All-America Honors

BIRMINGHAM – UAB running back DeWayne McBride has garnered Walter Camp Second Team All-America honors. This is the 133rd edition of the Walter Camp All-America Team, the nation's oldest college football All-America Team.
The Walter Camp All-America Team is the first of five Division I FBS All-America Teams announced which determine the NCAA's Consensus All-America Team, along with the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), Associate Press, The Sporting News and American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). To be selected as a Consensus All-American, a player must be named First Team All-America on at least two of the five selected All-America teams.
McBride is just the second player in program history to earn Walter Camp All-America status, joining J.J. Nelson who earned First Team All-America honors as a kick returner in 2014.
The Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year, McBride shattered the UAB record book in 2022 by setting no less than nine school records. The nation's leading rusher, McBride set school records for rushing yards (1,713), rushing yards per game (155.7), rushing touchdowns (19), yards per carry (7.35), 100-yard games (10), 200-yard games (3), total points (114) and multi-rushing touchdowns games (5). Additionally, he established the new single game school record when he ran for 272 yards against Louisiana Tech on Nov. 26.
Along with leading the nation in rushing this season, McBride is also the NCAA active career leader in yards per carry (7.3) and ranks second in career rushing yards per game (117.4).
In 30 career games, the true junior has compiled 3,523 rushing yards, 36 touchdowns and has 18 100-yard games, which are all second most at UAB.
