DeWayne McBride Named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year

McBride becomes just the second player in program history to garner this prestigious award, joining Joe Webb who earned the distinction in 2009.
McBride had the greatest single season in school history for a running back, setting multiple program records for rushing yards (1,713), yards per game (155.7), rushing touchdowns (19), yards per carry (7.35), 100-yard games (10), 200-yard games (3), total points (114) and multi-rushing touchdowns games (5).
The Starke, Fla. native also set the single game school rushing record with 272 yards against Louisiana Tech.
Along with leading the nation in rushing this season, McBride is also the NCAA active career leader in yards per carry (7.3) and ranks second in career rushing yards per game (117.4).
In 30 career games, the true junior has compiled 3,523 rushing yards, 36 touchdowns and has 18 100-yard games, which are all second most at UAB.

McBride and the Blazers are set to take on Miami (OH) in the 2022 Hometown Lenders Bahamas Bowl on Fri., Dec. 16 in at Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on ESPN.
