McBride Earns Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM – DeWayne McBride's record-setting performance during UAB's 37-27 victory over Louisiana Tech has earned him Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week honors.
McBride rushed for a school record 272 yards on just 16 carries (17 YPC) against the Bulldogs, and he also set the single season school rushing record with 1,713 yards in the process.
McBride ended the 2022 regular season as the NCAA rushing champion, and along with leading the nation in total rushing yards, he was also tops in the country in rushing yards per game (155.7) and rushes of 20+ yards (23).
Additionally, he finished second nationally in rushing touchdowns (19) and third in yards per carry (7.35). He had 10 100-yard rushing performances this season and three 200-yard games.

His performance against Louisiana Tech led the Blazers to bowl eligibility for a seventh-straight season and UAB is headed to the HomeTown Lenders Bahamas Bowl on Dec. 16 to play The University of Miami (OH). Kickoff is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. CT on ESPN.
