UAB to Play Miami (OH) in 2022 HomeTown Lenders Bahamas Bowl

BIRMINGHAM – Following its 37-27 victory at Louisiana Tech on Saturday, the UAB football team has officially accepted an invitation to play Miami (OH) in the 2022 HomeTown Lenders Bahamas Bowl on Friday, Dec. 16 at 11:30 a.m. ET/10:30 a.m. CT in Nassau, Bahamas.
The Blazers (6-6) achieved bowl eligibility for a seventh straight season (2014, 2017-22) with their victory at Louisiana Tech on Saturday. Miami, who represents the Mid-American Conference (MAC) also enters the game at 6-6 and this will be the first ever meeting between the two programs.
Led by record-setting running back DeWayne McBride, the Blazers finished the regular season with the most prolific rushing attack in school history and as one of the top running teams in the nation with an average of 243.5 rushing yards per game.
McBride set UAB's single season school records for rushing yards (1,713), rushing yards per game (155.7), rushing touchdowns (19) and yards per carry (7.4), while also establishing the single game rushing record with 272 yards against Louisiana Tech.
UAB has won two bowl games in school history with a 37-13 victory over Northern Illinois in the 2018 Boca Raton Bowl and a 31-28 victory over No. 13 BYU in the 2021 Independence Bowl. This will be the second time UAB has played in the Bahamas Bowl (2017).
