UAB Women’s Soccer Falls to UTSA in C-USA Quarterfinals 1-0 in Double Overtime

CHARLOTTE – Anna Sutton found the back of the net in the 108^th minute to give UTSA Roadrunners a 1-0 double overtime victory over UAB on Wednesday afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the 2022 Conference USA Championship.

UAB ends it season at 9-4-5, while UTSA advances to the quarterfinals to take on North Texas on Friday.

The Blazers had the first scoring chance of the contest in the seventh minute when Sidney McGregor was stopped in the box by UTSA keeper Mia Krusinski. UAB almost had a buzzer beater in the 90^th minute when Jessica Wheeler's shot just missed high.

The teams each had a shot in the extra period before Isa Hernandez passed to Avery Chaney, who tapped the ball to Sutton for the go-ahead goal.

Wheeler, Izzy Passman and Carlyn Presley each had two shots for UAB. Keeper Eve Beyer made two saves.
