Dear Blazer Nation,
Happy Homecoming! We are excited to have so many students, alumni, and friends participate in our planned homecoming activities and display your pride for UAB and Blazer Athletics this upcoming week.
I hope you will join us for the Homecoming game against Middle Tennessee on Saturday, Oct. 8. UAB Football is once again honoring Children's Harbor by wearing the names of their patients on the back of our alternate gray and lime jerseys. The football team has started the season 2-2 including a 59-0 shutout win against Alabama A&M and a 35-21 win against Georgia Southern at Protective Stadium. Single game and group tickets remain on sale for the 2022 season.
As part of the Homecoming Week festivities, the UAB Department of Athletics will be recognizing our newest members of the UAB Athletics Hall of Fame. The 2022 Hall of Fame class will be enshrined on Oct. 7 at The Club. Congratulations to Fran Braasch, Derrick Ingram, Alan Kaufman, Ryan Keedy, and Andy Kennedy! The 2022 UAB Athletics Hall of Fame inductees will also be recognized during the UAB Football Homecoming game.
Speaking of Coach Kennedy, the UAB men's basketball team is picked to win Conference USA after winning the conference tournament in 2022 for the first time since 2014-15 season. We recently began official practice and have high hopes for the upcoming season. Season tickets for the 2022-23 UAB men's basketball season are available starting as low as $110, and season ticket packages provide the most cost-effective way to attend games. For more information, call the UAB Athletics Ticket Office at (205) 975-UAB1 or request more information by clicking here.
The women's basketball team has a 29-game slate this season featuring 15 regular-season home games at Bartow Arena, 20 Conference USA matchups and a two-game tournament in the Bahamas. Purchase the 2022-23 Gold Card for $65 here. The 2022-23 Gold Card will get you access to all home events for Women's Basketball, Men's Soccer, Women's Soccer Volleyball, Softball, and Baseball (Regions Field & Young Memorial).
Our fall sports are in in full swing. Women's Soccer is off to a terrific start at 7-2-3 in 2022 following a 2021 season where they advanced to semifinals of C-USA tournament for first time since 2009. Following a ninth-place individual finish at the Graeme McDowell Invitational, senior Ethan Hagood was named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week.
We announced last week that Young Memorial Field is set to receive a new turf field along with an updated padded outfield wall and fencing leading into the 2023 season. A lead gift by Gerald and Nicki Kennedy made the project possible. Help IGNITE the future success of UAB Athletics with the move to the American Athletic Conference by joining Blazer Boosters today.
UAB Athletics also announced its UAB Local Exchange this past Thursday. This gives our fans, sponsors, donors, and community an opportunity to connect with UAB student-athletes as we continue to invest in the evolving NIL landscape of college athletics.
Thank you again for your support and all you do to advance UAB Athletics and our student-athletes!
GO Blazers!
