Zuniga, Halliwill, Presley Named to Conference USA All-Academic Team

BIRMINGHAM – Asha Zuniga, Morgan Halliwill and Carlyn Presley were all named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team, the league announced Friday.
Zuniga was named to the first team, while Halliwill and Presley were named to the second team.
As UAB's team captain Zuniga, a three-time Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and Conference USA Academic Medal recipient has been on the UAB Dean's and President's Lists. This season, she has anchored a back line that has recorded eight shutouts and a GAA of 1.06. Her four goals and eight points ranks fourth on the team, while her three game-winners leads the squad and is tired for first in C-USA. She has been named Defensive Player of the Week three times this season. The health care management major has a GPA pf 3.97.
Halliwill is also a three-time Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and Conference USA Academic Medal recipient, who has been on the UAB Dean's and President's Lists. Her three assists are third on UAB, which includes recording the helper in UAB's 2-1 victory over Middle Tennessee in the league opener on Sept. 18. The biomedical engineering major has a 3.93 GPA.
Presley is a member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and a recipient of the Conference USA Academic Medal. She has also been on the UAB Dean's and President's Lists. Presley is tied for the team lead with six goals and 14 points this season, including the game-winner against Florida Atlantic. The computer science major has a perfect 4.0 GPA.
The Blazers (9-3-4, 6-1-2 C-USA) wrap up the regular season Saturday afternoon when they host Rice (11-7-0, 9-0-0 C-USA) at PNC Field. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
