UAB Women’s Soccer Falls Short at Louisiana Tech, 2-1

RUSTON, La. – UAB women's soccer (9-3-4, 6-1-2 C-USA) found itself behind Louisiana Tech (7-7-3, 5-2-2 C-USA) in the first half and the Blazers were unable to complete the comeback in the final road match of the regular season, falling 2-1.

The defeat snaps the Blazers' school record 10-match unbeaten streak.

Louisiana Tech jumped ahead in the 39^th minute when Lauren Egbuloniu found the back of the net, putting the score at 1-0.

The hosts jumped on the board once again in the second half. Egbuloniu added her second goal of the match to make it 2-0 in the 67^th minute.

However, the Blazers got one back as Carlyn Presley scored her sixth goal of the season in the 79^th minute with assists from Stella Lawson and Jessica Wheeler.

The Blazers were unable to find an equalizer over the final 10 minutes.

UAB closes the regular season at home against Rice on Saturday Oct. 29 at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.

NOTES

The Blazers' 10-match unbeaten streak dated back to Sept. 1.
Carlyn Presley tied Stella Lawson for the team lead in goals. Presley and Lawson are also tied for the team lead with 14 points.
Jessica Wheeler now leads the team with 5 assists on the year.
