UAB Women’s Soccer Still Undefeated in League Play After 2-0 Victory Over Charlotte

BIRMINGHAM –The UAB women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to nine matches and remained undefeated in Conference USA play after its 2-0 victory against Charlotte at PNC Field on Thursday evening. This was the Blazers' breast cancer awareness match.
After a scoreless 1st half, UAB (8-2-4, 5-0-2 C-USA) came out on fire on the 2nd half, nearly scoring two minutes in when Izzy Passman hit woodwork. Eight minutes later, reigning C-USA Defender of the Week Hannah Clark had a rocket blast just over the crossbar.
The Blazers got on the board in the 68th minute when Carlyn Presley found Stella Kiss in the box for her second goal of the season. Claire Rea added an insurance goal in the 84th minute on a helper from Stella Lawson.
Keeper Eve Beyer made one save for her league-tying sixth shutout of the season.
"We came out in the 2nd half and dominated," said head coach Erica Demers. "We gave the kids a couple of challenges and they stepped up and did it."
The Blazers fired 11 shots in the 2nd half, seven on target.
"Stella had a great goal and Claire has an awesome goal as well," added Demers.
The Blazers finish out the road portion of the season at WKU on Oct. 16 an LA Tech on Oct. 23. The regular season ends on Oct. 29 against Rice at PNC Field for Senior Night.

- Beyer now has 13 career clean sheets which ties her with Katie Forbis (2003-06) for third most in program history
- Beyer's GAA falls to 0.55 and her save percent raises to .846 – both league-bests
