Khavish Varadan Earns Conference USA Golfer of the Week

BIRMINGHAM – For a second place individual finish at The Carolina Cup, junior Khavish Varadan has been named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week.
Varadan led the Blazers to their first tournament win of the 2022-23 campaign over the weekend, notching his first top 10 finish of the season. The Blazers finished the tournament -20 overall and won by 10 strokes over Lipscomb.
Varadan becomes the second Blazer to win C-USA honors this season, as senior Ethan Hagood took home the award on Sept. 30.
The Kuala Lampor, Malaysia native shot -11 (71-66-68) overall and played his best golf on Monday, shooting a 29 on the front nine and finishing at -6 (66).
This marks the fourth time Varadan has been named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week in his career at UAB.
"Khavish has been battling injury all year so to have him back and competing well is a big boost to us but mainly for himself," said Head Coach Matt Whall. "He's worked extremely hard and has been diligent with his recovery so this week's result was well deserved. He's such a talented player and he's maturing and understanding his game more and more each week so we're looking for this to be a huge boost moving into the spring."
