Alex Wright Invited to 2022 NFL Scouting Combine

BIRMINGHAM – Defensive end Alex Wright has been invited to participate in the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine, the league announced. The NFL Combine is scheduled to take place March 1-7 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Wright had a monster 2021 season on the edge with 45 total tackles, 8.5 TFL, 6.0 sacks, 12 quarterback hurries, three pass breakups and two forced fumbles. He was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 11 for his performance against Florida Atlantic. In addition, Wright was named Pro Football Focus (PFF) Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year and honored as a Second Team All-Conference USA selection.
In three years as a Blazer, Wright recorded 90 tackles, 19.0 TFL, 11.5 sacks, five pass breakups, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 35 career games.
Wright is the third UAB player invited to the NFL Combine since the Blazers' return to action in 2017. Last season, defensive end Jordan Smith and wide receiver Austin Watkins Jr. received invitations, however the combine did not take place in-person due to COVID-19.
