UAB Women’s Golf Places 12th at USA Intercollegiate

BIRMINGHAM – Playing in its first tournament of the 2021-22 season, the UAB women's golf team placed 12th overall at the USA Intercollegiate hosted by South Alabama at RTJ Magnolia Crossing Course.
The Blazers (303-297-290) saved their best round for the final day of the tournament which moved them up one spot on Monday. Emilia Smith (71), Rose Baral (72) and Karlee Allen (73) led the way in the final round.
"Each day our girls committed to bettering themselves, and I am proud to say we they succeeded in that process," said head coach Kari Bellville. "We analyze and move forward these next two weeks before our Hoover Invite. There's great play to come."
Smith was UAB's top finisher as she tied for 22nd overall at +2. Smith (74-73-71 = 218) carded six birdies during 54-hole tournament, including two on Monday en route to shooting a one under 71.
Baral's even par moved her up eight spots in the final round to finish in a tie for 40th overall (76-74-72 = 222, +6).
In her first collegiate tournament, Erika Allen tied for 59th at +10 (76-74-76 = 226), while her sister Karlee Allen tied for 70th at +11 (77-77-73 = 227).
Rounding out UAB's lineup was sophomore Marilyn Steed who tied for 81st (80-76-74 = 230, +14).
Playing as an individual, junior Caroline Waldrop tied for 46th overall at +7 (71-74-78 = 223).
