UAB Men's Tennis Earns 10 Wins at Southern Miss Fall Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The UAB men's tennis team notched 10 victories over the weekend in its second tournament of the 2021 fall season. The Blazers recorded six doubles victories and four singles victories in the two-day Southern Miss Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
UAB swept its first three doubles matches against Southern Miss to open this past weekend's tournament. The pairing of Michal Lusovsky and Thanos Spyropoulos defeated Southern Miss' Antoine Audrain and Dhruv Sunish 6-3 on court one. Vojtech Podzemny and Martin Vasquez continued UAB's strong start in doubles play with a 7-6 win over USM's Alan Sanson and Alexander Gima.
On court three, Parker Bradbary and Nikola Puric finished off the Saturday morning sweep of the Golden Eagles with a 6-4 win over Christopher Cahour and Pasawee Reansuwong.
Lusovsky and Spyropoulos then earned their second doubles win of the morning with a 6-2 triumph over South Alabama's Sebastien Collard and Jack Clements. Bradbary and Puric also moved to 2-0 in doubles play on Saturday with a 7-5 win over the Jaguars' Louis Delcour and Javier Montoya.
In Saturday's singles action, Bradbury rebounded from a loss in the first set to defeat Southern Miss' Pawin Jirapoomdaje 2-6, 6-3, 7-5. Puric notched the Blazers' second win in singles with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over South Alabama's Phil Bosman.
On Sunday, Lusovsky and Spyropoulos earned their third doubles victory of the weekend with a 6-3 win over Southern Miss' Sunish and Sanson. Lusovsky and Spyropoulos also registered wins in singles play with Spyropoulos' win going three sets, dispatching Southern Miss' Audrain 6-4, 6-7 (8-6), 6-3.
UAB will return to the court on Saturday when the Blazers travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to begin play in the ITA All-American Championships.
