BIRMINGHAM – The UAB football team landed five players on the Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List, which is the nation's most prestigious college all-star game played annually in Mobile, Ala.
Representing UAB on the Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List are quarterback Tyler Johnston III, tight end Hayden Pittman, cornerback TD Marshall, safety/linebacker Kristopher Moll and defensive lineman Justin Thomas.
The Blazers had two former standouts participate in the college showcase last season as Jordan Smith (Jaguars) and Austin Watkins Jr. (49ers) were the first players to represent UAB at the Senior Bowl since the program returned to action in 2017.
Johnston III and Pittman are from the Mobile area as both grew up in Spanish Fort. Johnston III enters his senior year ranking fourth all-time at UAB in career touchdown passes (35) and fifth in career yards (4,429).
Pittman is a John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List member and has had a reception in 25 consecutive games.
Defensively, Moll and Marshall have been the catalysts for UAB's punishing defense that has finished top 10 nationally each of the last three years.
Moll is coming off an All-America season in 2020 and is 32 tackles away from cracking the top 10 for career tackles at UAB. Marshall is a two-time All-Conference USA performer and enters his third year as a starting corner for the Blazers.
Thomas has yet to play a snap for UAB but expectations are very high for the former LSU Tiger. Thomas brings a veteran presence to a defensive line that has been one of the most dominant position groups for the Blazers since 2017.
The five selections to the Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List are the most of any team in Conference USA.
UAB is just 20 days away from the start of the 2021 season. The Blazers open the year with a neutral site game against Jacksonville State in the Montgomery Kickoff at the Cramton Bowl. That game is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN and will be the only college football game played that day.
Tickets to the game in Montgomery are on sale for $20, or fans can purchase an ESPN Zone ticket for $100 which allows access to premium food, beverage and seating.
Season tickets are on sale for UAB's inaugural season at Protective Stadium starting as low as $75 by clicking here.
