BIRMINGHAM – Senior Nick Robillard has been named the 2020-21 Conference USA Men's Golf Scholar Athlete of the Year, announced by league officials on Wednesday.
Robillard had one of the most decorated seasons in program history, being named Conference USA Golfer of the Year, First Team All-Conference USA and he was one of five members named to the C-USA All-Academic Team.
Robillard led the Blazers to three straight tournament victories in the fall of 2020 and helped UAB earn its highest national ranking in program history of No. 5.
The Blazers reached the NCAA National Championship for the eighth time in school history and finished 24th overall.
The C-USA Scholar Athletes of the Year awards, voted on by the conference's 14 FARs, are presented to the top student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport based on academic achievement (GPA), athletic achievement and service.
The 17 scholar-athletes were selected from C-USA's full-time and affiliate member institutions across 19 sports (combining indoor and outdoor track & field). Rice led the conference with eight selections, while Robillard was the only representative from UAB on the list.
Robillard returns in 2021-22 to lead a talented nucleus of returning players from last year's team, along with Khavish Varadan, Ethan Hagood and John Snoddy, who were all in the lineup for UAB during its run to the national championship.
