BIRMINGHAM – With exactly 50 days to go before the start of the 2021 UAB football season, the Blazers received their 2020 Conference USA Championship Rings on Tuesday.
UAB won its second Conference USA Championship in the past three years with a 22-13 victory at Marshall on Dec. 18, 2020. UAB is the three-time defending C-USA West Division Champions and is the only team in league history to win the division three straight years.
Following UAB's two-year hiatus in 2015 and 2016, the Blazers have been Conference USA's most dominant team since The Return in 2017, compiling a league-best 34 wins and claiming its first two C-USA titles in program history. UAB is also the only team in Conference USA to win the championship on the road – a feat the Blazers have accomplished twice.
UAB returns 17 starters from last year's team and aims to create a dynasty within Conference USA if the Blazers can win a third championship over a four-year span.
Anticipation is at an all-time high as UAB moves into Protective Stadium for the start of the 2021 season. Home games include a marquee non-conference matchup against Liberty on Oct. 2, along with hosting C-USA opponents Florida Atlantic (Oct. 9), Rice (Oct. 23), Louisiana Tech (Nov. 6) and UTEP (Nov. 27).
