BIRMINGHAM – Recent UAB football graduates Luke Brasher and Jacob Fuqua have been named First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District® Four honorees, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday.
Both Brasher and Fuqua now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First and second team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early July.
The award, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom, is a common place for Brasher as this is his third-consecutive year earning this honor.
Brasher is currently enrolled in the UAB Doctorate of Physical Therapy School.
For Fuqua, he adds another award to his illustrious career that saw him graduate as the most decorated long snapper in program history.
Along with being named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team and a nominee for the William V Campell Trophy awarded to the nation's top scholar-athlete, Fuqua was a Fourth Team All-American, First Team All-Conference USA selection and a semifinalist for the Patrick Mannelly Award, given to the nation's top long snapper.
These two were members of the UAB football program since 2016 and were cornerstones during the return of the program. They were both a part of 34 total wins, including the programs first two Conference USA championships and bowl victory.
