Floyd, Petkov Named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team

BIRMINGHAM — Brittany Floyd and Lisa Petkov of the UAB track and field team have been named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Floyd recently placed second in the heptathlon at the Conference USA Outdoor Championship. She also claimed gold in pentathlon at the Conference Indoor Championships in February with a school record 37.
The Columbus, Ga. native earned a 3.52 GPA in accounting and a three-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Petkov claimed two medals at the Conference USA Outdoor championships with a silver in the 4x400 meter relay and bronze in the 400-meter hurdles.
During the indoor season, Petkov finished third in the Conference USA Indoor Championships with a personal-best time of 55.71 in the 400-meters. In the 4x400-meter relay, Petkov anchored the team to a time of 3:47.74 to take the silver in the Conference USA Indoor Championship.
The graduate student holds a 3.78 GPA and pursuing a master's in business administration.
Floyd and Petkov await the release of the NCAA East Preliminary field on Thursday, May 20th. The meet is set to run May 26-29 in Jacksonville, Fla. with Jacksonville University serving as the host.
