Final Phase of UAB Basketball Practice Facility Approved

BIRMINGHAM- The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees approved the final phase for the new men's and women's basketball practice facility on Friday, April 9.
"The new practice facility will provide a competitive advantage for our teams and have a positive impact on UAB, the student-athletes and the city of Birmingham," head coach Randy Norton said.
The project, which will be a renovation of the current Physical Education Building, includes two full-length practice courts, coaches' offices and suites, locker rooms and players' lounges for both programs.
With the final approval of the practice facility, construction will start in May and will take 9-12 months to complete.

UAB returns a trio of All-Conference USA team selections.
Senior Zakyia Weathersby and junior Margaret Whitley were both named to the All-Conference Second Team, while Caitlynn Daniels became the fourth freshman under Norton to be selected to the All-Freshman Team.
Weathersby was the league's leading rebounder, averaging more than 12 boards a game and posting 14 double-doubles.
