UAB Men’s Tennis Tops Jacksonville State

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's tennis team claimed victory over Jacksonville State on Sunday afternoon at the UAB Campus Courts, overcoming the Gamecocks 4-1.
UAB (5-7, 0-2 C-USA) won the doubles point with victories on all three courts. Court one saw Roman Postolka/Michal Lusovsky best Thomas Norwood/Aljaz Kaplja, 7-6, while Daniel Janko/Vojtech Podzemny won on court two, 6-3, against Guillermo Agost/Jordi Blanchar. Parker Bradbary/Giovani Pasini overcame Joaquin Vallejo/Maj Tomac, 7-6, on court three for the Blazer doubles sweep.
In singles play, Jacksonville State tied the match score at one with a court one singles win by Vallejo over Postolka, 6-4, 6-3. From that point, it was all Green and Gold, as the Blazers reeled off three straight singles wins to claim the match.
UAB regained the lead on court four, as Podzemny topped Tomac, 7-5, 6-4. UAB went up 3-1 with a court three win by Spyropolous over Kaplja, 6-4, 6-2. The Blazers clinched the match on court two as Lusovsky defeated Agost, 7-6, 6-2.
The Green and Gold returns to the courts on Friday as UAB plays host to Samford at the UAB Campus Courts. First serve from the Magic City is scheduled for 2 p.m.
