Blazer Women’s Golf Leads UAB Spring Invite After 18 Holes

BIRMINGHAM – The Blazer women's golf team leads after the first 18 holes of the UAB Spring Invitational at Greystone Golf and Country Club.

Weather delayed the second round for two hours, but the field retook the course and played until dark. The remainder of the second round and the entire third round will be completed on Tuesday.

After 18 holes, UAB (+10) leads the 11 team field, followed by Middle Tennessee (+11) and Xavier (+12).

Senior Tia Teiniketo was tied for the lead after an opening round 70 (-2) with Sophie Burks (Middle Tennessee) and Mikayla Fitzpatrick (Xavier).

Freshman Shelly Chen shot a three over 75 and is tied for seventh, followed by senior Stephenie Fowler who was one shot behind Chen at four over 76 and in a tie for 12th.

Karlee Allen (77, T17) and Emilia Smith (81, T41) rounded UAB's team efforts, while Lexie Dawson (79, T29), Caroline Waldrop (81, T41) and (84, T53) played as individuals.
