BIRMINGHAM – After winning the Railsplitter Classic in their last competition, the UAB bowling team puts its winning streak on the line as they travel to Greensboro, NC to compete in MEAC No. 2 hosted by North Carolina A&T. The three-day event runs Feb. 19 through Feb. 21.
"We are very excited to be back on the lanes this weekend," said head coach Michelle Crews. "We will look to keep our momentum and energy going into conference play and postseason. Hopefully, the weather won't prevent us from playing but we will make the most of each opportunity given."
At the Railsplitter Classic, Samantha Johnson led the way with a total pinfall of 1,172 to finish in third place. Elise London (1,054), Jamie Krasnigor (1,009) and Katie Hurley (960) placed fifth, eighth and 12th, respectively, to finish the Blazers in the top 25 individually. Johnson and London were both named to the 2021 Railsplitter Classic All-Tournament Team.
The team will begin MEAC No. 2 with baker matches on Friday before competing in traditional matches on Saturday. The weekend concludes with best of seven baker matches on Sunday.
UAB will be one of five teams this weekend including Coppin State, No. 15 Delaware State, Monmouth and No. 13 North Carolina A&T.
Competing this weekend will be Cayla Davidson, Jillian Hulsey, Katie Hurley, Samantha Johnson, Jamie Krasnigor, Haley Kvarnberg, Elise London and Shauna Rodgers.
