UAB Tops Alabama A&M in Huntsville for First Win of 2021

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB men's tennis team swept Alabama A&M, 7-0, on Sunday evening in Huntsville, Ala., earning its first win of the 2021 spring season.
The Blazers (1-1, 0-0 C-USA) took every set but one from the Bulldogs (0-1, 0-0 SWAC) en route to winning all seven points.
UAB claimed the doubles point as Roman Postolka and Michal Lusovsky topped Panji Setiawan and Rodrigo Arana Rios, 6-1, on court one before Parker Bradbary and Giovani Pasini overcame German Ruiz Crespo and Natiphat Mulada, 6-2, on court three.
The Green and Gold took a 1-0 lead into singles play and quickly racked up wins on courts one (Postolka def. Arana Rios, 6-2, 6-1), two (Lusovsky def. Fermin Ruiz Gespo, 6-1, 6-1) and six (Vojtech Podzemny def. Ruiz Crespo, 6-1, 6-3) to clinch the match.
Court five was the next to finish, as Thanos Spyropolous beat Mulada, 6-4, 6-3, before Daniel Janko won against Popovski, 7-6 (4), 4-6, 1-0 (8). Nikola Puric was the last Blazer to claim victory as he won, 6-4, 7-6 (6) on court four.
UAB returns to action on Friday as the Blazers host Tennessee State at the UAB Campus Courts with action set to begin at noon.
