Five Things to Know About the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Basketball Classic

BIRMINGHAM – As UAB approaches its highly anticipated matchup against West Virginia in the opening game of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Basketball Classic, the UAB Department of Athletics is sharing important information Blazer fans need to know.
UAB's game on Saturday, Dec. 18, against the Mountaineers (9-1) will be played at the BJCC's newly renovated Legacy Arena. The matchup between the Blazers and Mountaineers will be the first college basketball game played in the newly renovated arena. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. and will be carried live on CBS Sports Network.
Following UAB's game against West Virginia, Miles College and Savannah State will conclude the doubleheader with an evening matchup scheduled for 7:30 p.m. A ticket for the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Basketball Classic allows fans to enjoy both games on Saturday.

1: Ticket Information
UAB men's basketball season ticket holders were sent their Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Basketball Classic tickets via mobile delivery on Monday, Dec. 6. Tickets to the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Basketball Classic include entry to both games of the scheduled doubleheader – UAB versus West Virginia and Miles College versus Savannah State.
If 2021-22 UAB men's basketball season ticket holders selected the will call option, tickets can be picked up at the UAB Athletics Ticket Office located at Bartow Arena during regular business hours or at Entrance A (main box office) of Legacy Arena starting at 2 p.m. on game day.
For single-game ticket buyers, tickets to this event are still available by clicking here. Any single-game purchases will be delivered via mobile delivery or available at will call. Single-game tickets, which include entry to both games of the doubleheader, start for as low as $15 with lower-level reserved seats starting at $22.

3: Student Ticketing Information
UAB students will gain free access to the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Basketball Classic with a valid UAB ONE Card. Student tickets are available on game day at Entrance A beginning at 2 p.m., which is two hours prior to the Blazers' 4 p.m. tipoff against West Virginia. The first 50 students in attendance are eligible for premium seating on the floor at Legacy Arena

After 20 months of renovations, the BJCC's newly renovated Legacy Arena reopened on Sunday, Dec. 5, when the Birmingham Squadron played their first home game in the new facility.

UAB (9-2) has won four straight games to move up to No. 34 in the NET (NCAA Evaluation Tool) rankings. The Blazers, who were predicted as the preseason favorites to win the Conference USA regular season championship, have defeated all seven of their opponents by double digits in games played in Birmingham this season.
Newcomer Jordan Walker leads the Blazers in scoring with 16.4 points per game and assists with 4.9 assists per game to open his first season at UAB. Birmingham native Trey Jemison leads the Blazers in rebounding with 8.1 rebounds per game and is tied with teammate KJ Buffen with two double-doubles for the season.
UAB alumnus Andy Kennedy, who will look for his first win against mentor and West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins, sits just three wins away from win No. 300 for his collegiate coaching career. Kennedy is 1-3 all-time against West Virginia, defeating the Mountaineers 78-75 at home in his one year at Cincinnati in 2005-06.
The Blazers are 2-1 against the Mountaineers in the all-time series, winning the past two matchups by a combined eight points.
