McBride Earns Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM โ For his career day in leading UAB to a 52-38 victory over Louisiana Tech, sophomore running back DeWayne McBride has been named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week.

McBride had a record-setting performance, running for 210 yards and four touchdowns on just 14 carries, good for an average of 15 yards per carry.

His 210 yards were the seventh most single game rushing yards in program history, while his four rushing touchdowns were the second most for a single game. He led a ground attack that compiled a season-high 295 total rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns.

McBride has turned it on in the second half of the season and is averaging 147.3 rushing yards per game in his last three contests. Overall, he has 837 rushing yards this year and eight touchdowns, while averaging 7.0 yards per carry. His yards per carry average ranks him seventh nationally.

The sophomore's monster performance on Saturday also catapulted him into the top 10 on UAB's career rushing yards and rushing touchdown list, and he has done so in just 15 career games. McBride already ranks 10th all-time in both rushing yards (1,276) and rushing touchdowns (12).

The Blazers head to Marshall this weekend and return to the site of where they were crowned 2020 Conference USA Champions. Both teams enter the contest with identical records of 6-3 overall and 4-1 in league play.
