Alfie Fox Named Conference USA Golfer of the Week

BIRMINGHAM – Redshirt junior Alfie Fox has been named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week for notching an eighth place finish at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational last weekend in Mobile.
Fox shot 70-69-73 = 212 (-4) to lead the Blazers in their final tournament of the fall. He finished inside the top 10 for the first time this season and recorded his third-consecutive top 20 finish.
Fox has been a consistent force for the Blazers this season and holds a 71.1 stroke average. He has finished under par in two of the three tournaments and has five total rounds under par.
This is the first career Conference USA honor for Fox and he is the second Blazer this season to be named C-USA Golfer of the Week, along with Khavish Varadan on Sept. 29.
"I couldn't be more pleased for Alfie," said head coach Matt Whall. "He has turned up this semester with a rejuvenated passion for his game and has worked hard all year. He has been very consistent day to day and I'm so pleased to see his hard work starting to show. Hopefully this is just another springboard to kick him into another gear this off season."
The Blazers concluded their fall slate with an overall record of 33-9-0 and turn their attention to the spring in hopes of making back to the NCAA National Championship. UAB opens the spring scheduled on Jan. 31 in Ponte Verda Beach, Fla.
