BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's basketball team tips off its season in just 10 days with an exhibition game against Spring Hill College on Nov. 5. Fans wishing to attend the exhibition game versus Spring Hill College can attend the game free of charge. Tickets will be available on game day only by coming to the UAB Athletics Ticket Office located at Bartow Arena.
The first regular season game will be against Shorter University at home on Nov. 10.
"We are very excited about the schedule we have put together, said head coach Randy Norton. "We play 16 games at home inside Bartow Arena which is good for both our girls and our fans. Last year we started the youngest lineup in the league and one of the youngest in the country. We feel this schedule will prepare us for the challenges of Conference USA."
The Blazers will host a canned food drive during their games on Nov. 10, and Nov. 19 benefiting the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama. Each donated canned item will earn fans a $2 ticket into that day's game. One ticket per canned item donated. Items in need include: peanut butter, canned tuna/chicken, low-sodium canned vegetables, and soups.
The team is also offering BOGO holiday games this season. Buy one get one free tickets for games on Dec. 5, Dec. 15, and Dec. 21 will be available for purchase at the Bartow Arena Ticket Office. There will also be a toy drive hosted on Dec. 5 benefiting the YWCA of Birmingham. Donate a new and unopened toy to receive one free popcorn. One popcorn per present donated.
The conference season will also bring exciting opportunities for fans including a free drink for Gold Card holders at all Saturday conference games. Additionally, UAB faculty, staff, and their guests are eligible for $2 tickets for all Saturday conference games.
