Grayson Cash Named C-USA Special Teams Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM โ For blocking a punt and recovering it for a touchdown in UAB's 34-0 victory at Southern Miss, safety Grayson Cash has been named the Conference USA Special Team's Player of the Week.

With UAB leading Southern Miss 10-0 early in the second quarter and the Eagles pinned deep in their own territory, Cash blocked a punt and jumped on it in the end zone to give the Blazers a 17-0 lead which was part of a 28-point second quarter.

For Cash, it was his second blocked punt of the season (other vs. Jacksonville State) and his second straight week finding the end zone. Last week against Florida Atlantic, Cash had the longest interception returned for a touchdown in program history with a 100-yard house call against the Owls.

Cash is the fourth Blazer to be named the C-USA Player of the Week, along with tight end Gerrit Prince (Sept. 20), punter Kyle Greenwell (Sept. 20) and defensive end Alex Wright (Oct. 11).

The Blazers (5-2, 3-0 C-USA) host Rice (2-4, 1-1 C-USA) this Saturday, Oct. 23, at Protective Stadium for Homecoming and the fifth annual Children's Harbor game. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CST. Tickets are available by clicking here.
