Men’s Tennis Falls to Samford in Season Opener

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB men's tennis team was defeated by Samford, 4-0, in the opening match of the spring competition season on Saturday in Homewood, Ala.
UAB (0-1, 0-0 C-USA) dropped the doubles point as the Bulldogs' (2-4, 0-0 SoCon) Eladio Fabregas and Tomas Santantonio topped Nikola Puric and Thanos Spyropolous, 6-2 on court one. Samford also claimed the win on doubles court three as UAB's Parker Bradbary and Vojtech Podzemny fell to Samford's Rossouw Norval and M.A. Bellalouna, 6-2.
Going into singles down 1-0, The Green and Gold was defeated on courts one, two and three, giving Samford a clinched match at 4-0.
On court one, Roman Postolka fell to Norval, 6-1, 6-4, before Samford's Victor Chaw overcame Michal Lusovsky in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Fabregas claimed the final point of the match for the Bulldogs as he beat Spyropolous, 7-6, 6-2.

UAB returns to the courts on Feb. 13 to take on Troy (5-0, 0-0 Sun Belt) on the road on Feb. 13.
