BIRMINGHAM – As the calendar flips to 2021, the UAB football team moves into Protective Stadium this upcoming season in hopes of defending its Conference USA championship.
Progress in Uptown has continued to make tremendous strides and remains on pace to host the Blazers this upcoming fall.
Most notably, the upper deck on the east side of Protective Stadium is taking shape with bleachers currently being assembled. Bleachers in the north end zone and half of the east side lower level have been constructed as part of the 45,000 seat stadium.
At the south end of the stadium, the scoreboard is an eye-catching structure facing the interstate and is nearing completion. When finished, UAB will boast one of the largest scoreboards in the country.
Additionally, the main entrance ramp leading to the south end zone concourse has made significant progress over the last month.
The exterior of the stadium features a brick finish and will continue to develop as the Protective Stadium project continues into the spring.
UAB's 2021 schedule will be released in the coming month, but Blazer fans are encouraged to purchase season tickets which start as low as $75.
