Tyler Johnston III Earns Manning Award Star of the Week

BIRMINGHAM – Redshirt junior quarterback Tyler Johnson III is one of eight quarterbacks who has earned the Manning Award Star of the Week, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
College football fans can now go to the Allstate Sugar Bowl Facebook page to vote for what they think was the best performance from this past weekend. When voting closes on Thursday at 11 a.m. CST, the top vote-getter will be announced as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week.
Johnston III led UAB to a 45-35 victory over Central Arkansas by completing 68 percent of his passes (17-of-25) for 143 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
His two touchdowns gave him 30 for his career which ranks him fourth all-time at UAB, while he also moved into seventh place on the career passing yards list. He now has 3,729 career passing yards.
Johnston III is 11-4 as the UAB starter and leads the Blazers into a Week 2 matchup at Miami on Thursday night. Kickoff at Hard Rock Stadium is set for 8 p.m. EST/7 p.m. CST on the ACC Network.
