Presedo Earns Conference USA Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship

DALLAS – Recent UAB women's soccer graduate Natalie Presedo has been selected as one of 14 winners of the 2020 Jim Castañeda Conference USA Postgraduate Scholarship Award, the league office announced on Thursday.
Presedo, who earned degrees in molecular biology and anthropology, plans on pursuing UAB's prep scholars program and will seek her PhD/MD. She was a member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and earned the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal.
As a four year starter, Presedo anchored the backline for four-years, making 70 starts and playing over 6,000 career minutes.
"Natalie is very deserving of this award and through her hard work and academic dedication, I know she will continue to flourish," said head coach Erica Demers. "Congratulations to an exceptional player and person."
The 12th annual award is named in honor of Dr. Jim Castañeda who served Rice for 46 years as an educator, coach and Faculty Athletics Representative before he passed away in 2008. Every season, C-USA grants the $4,000 scholarship to distinguished graduates selected by the league's Faculty Athletics Representatives and approved by the Board of Directors.
