UAB Sees 86 Student-Athletes Earn C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal

BIRMINGHAM – After 244 UAB student-athletes were recognized on Thursday for the C-USA Honor Roll, an additional 86 Blazers earned the C-USA Commissioners' Academic Medal, the league office announced on Friday.
Student-athletes who earned the Academic Medal maintained a 3.75 GPA or higher for the 2019-20 academic year. With 86 recipients, UAB had the most student-athletes of any Conference USA school earn the Academic Medal.
"To say that the efforts our student-athletes have made in the classroom is impressive would be an understatement," said Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Services Ramone Cooper. "Last year, we had 71 students earn the C-USA Academic Medal. I am proud to say we've topped that number with 86 this year. Accomplishing this feat with all that's happened this school year is nothing short of amazing."
UAB women's soccer had the highest representation of any team on campus, having 16 student-athletes earn a 3.75 GPA or higher. Women's track & field also had double-digit representation with 10, while UAB football and men's soccer led the male sports with eight each.
