BIRMINGHAM – Renewing an in-state non-conference rivalry, UAB and Troy have signed a home-and-home series scheduled for 2028 and 2029, the two schools announced on Friday.
The first game will take place at Protective Stadium in Birmingham on Sept. 23, 2028. UAB then travels to Troy the following year on Sept. 8.
Game 1: Sept. 23, 2028 – at UAB
Game 2: Sept. 8, 2029 – at Troy
UAB and Troy have met 12 times in program history with the Trojans leading the all-time series 7-5. The two team met annually from 2009-14, and UAB won the most recent contest 48-10, which was played on Aug. 30, 2014 at Legion Field.
The Troy series adds to UAB's growing list of Sun Belt opponents in the upcoming decade. Earlier this week, it was announced that the Blazers and Georgia State signed a four year agreement for 2027-30, while UAB also has South Alabama, Georgia Southern and Louisiana on the upcoming non-conference slate.
UAB returns 18 starters to a team that finished 9-5 last year and won the second most games in school history. Since returning to action in 2017, the Blazers are the winningest team in Conference USA with 28 victories, including back-to-back C-USA West Division titles and being crowned 2018 Conference USA Champions.
With the priority deadline extended to May 15, current football season ticket holders can click here to renew their seats for the 2020 season. Fans interested in purchasing new season tickets can do so for as low as $75 with the Family Four Pack season ticket. As a reminder, 2020 Blazer Boosters members and season ticket holders will have top priority for seats leading into Protective Stadium in 2021.
